Geared towards African-American males, the Center for Male Engagement (CME) provides its members with targeted academic and non-academic supports designed to enhance their skill sets, cultivate a sense of belonging and build resolve as they pursue a degree at Community College of Philadelphia and continue beyond.  

What’s Available?

Support coaches who serve as your primary advocates on campus, help you adapt to a college environment, lessen some of the barriers to academic success and encourage you to take advantage of the College's many academic and social opportunities

Access to on-site computers, supplemental education software, a resource library and a quiet study area conducive to educational achievement

Academic support in english, math and science. Learning specialists assist with key foundation concepts and enhance academic skills

Access to cultural and social events to develop self-awareness and foster peer support among CME members. Past events have included Six Flags Great Adventure, professional sporting events, Broadway plays and musicals, paintball, cultural events, and college and university tours

Life skills, career development and leadership development training

Summer Enrichment Program

The Summer Enrichment Program provides an enhanced orientation to the College and its resources, giving new students the opportunity to engage in life at the College prior to the larger population arriving on campus. Students who successfully complete the program automatically become CME members.

Program features include:

  • Weekly SEPTA TransPass for transportation to and from the College
  • Breakfast and lunch daily
  • Free, overnight, off-campus leadership development retreat
  • A stipend upon successful program completion
