MEDIA ADVISORY

Philadelphia – Community College of Philadelphia (College) is continuing its commitment to
fight systemic racism and social injustice by hosting a solidarity walk for 8 minutes and 46
seconds in memory of George Floyd. The walk will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Dr. Donald Guy Generals, College president, will begin his socially-distanced walk at the
College’s Mint Building at 1700 Spring Garden St. with two students, both of whom participate in
the College’s Black Scholars Mentor Program and the Center for Male Engagement. In addition,
members of the College community are encouraged to walk outside wherever is convenient,
wearing all black, Black Lives Matter or College apparel, alone or socially distancing with
friends. Participants are encouraged to create a sign to let others know why they are walking,
and community members are welcome to join.

Participants can show support by taking a photo or video and sharing it by tagging @CCPedu
on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, using #EnoughisEnough.

This event is organized by the College’s Center for Male Engagement and the Black Studies
program. This event is part of the College’s continued Enough is Enough series.
