Community College of Philadelphia to Host Portrait Unveiling Ceremony for Immediate Past Board Chair Jeremiah White

White was elected the first Black board chair in 2015, served on the College board since 2006  

PHILADELPHIA – Community College of Philadelphia announced that it will host a portrait unveiling ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of immediate past Board of Trustee Chair Jeremiah J. White, Jr. Mr. White served on the College’s board since 2006. In 2015, he was selected by the board to serve as its first Black chair until his term ended in Sept. 2022.  

The event will take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1 in the The Klein Cube, P2-3, on the second floor of the Pavilion Building, 1700 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130. The entrance to the Pavilion building can be accessed on 17th Street between Spring Garden and Callowhill Streets. 

During his tenure as board chair, Mr. White was pivotal in guiding the College through the COVID-19 pandemic, adding diversity, equity, and inclusion as the sixth pillar of the College’s most recent Strategic Plan, and worked to spearhead the construction, groundbreaking, and grand opening of the Career and Advanced Technology Center in West Philadelphia.
