PHILADELPHIA -- Community College of Philadelphia and Shippensburg University (SU) have forged a partnership, creating new opportunities for students in the Philadelphia region. The dual admissions transfer agreement, signed by President Dr. Donald Guy Generals and SU President Laurie A. Carter, provides students a timely, cost-effective and deliberate path to increasing their education attainment and employability potential from the College to SU.
Upon graduation with an approved associate degree, CCP students will transition seamlessly to SU with junior standing. In addition to a transfer of credits, the agreement creates unique scholarship opportunities of up to $4,000 for CCP students transferring to SU.
“Community College of Philadelphia and Shippensburg University share similar goals and views, such as a commitment to advance diversity and provide equal access to education and support services,” said Dr. Generals. “We are proud to offer this new possibility to students, and look forward to working with Shippensburg to advance the lives of those we serve.”
Students interested in CCP and SU dual admissions can select from nearly 100 program options identified in the agreement. The programs are offered in a variety of disciplines and across the three SU academic colleges: the AACSB-accredited John L. Grove College of Business, The College of Arts and Sciences and The College of Education and Human Services. Students also may consider one of five highly sought-after programs in the university’s School of Engineering, the only one of its kind in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
“With this agreement, we make it clear to Community College of Philadelphia students that we are committed to their success and growth. This commitment comes in the form of a dynamic collaboration that allows students to easily transfer to Ship and earn scholarship and internship support that will help carry them across the finish line to a bachelor's degree and excellent job prospects upon graduation. We are proud to welcome CCP students to Shippensburg University as they continue to build the future they aspire to achieve,” said President Carter.
