BLACK AND GOLD GALA 2022
The Community College of Philadelphia Foundation hosted the 2022 Black & Gold Gala on June 1 at Vie by Cescaphe. As the College Foundation’s signature fundraising event, it has raised nearly $2 million since 2018 to support student scholarships. This year’s Gala raised more than $900,000—a record-breaking amount.
Additionally, the Black & Gold Gala recognizes the outstanding service of individuals and organizations that demonstrate involvement in community growth in the areas of education, business, social services, and health. This recognition is awarded to those who exemplify leadership and are active in community initiatives in Philadelphia. This year, the College celebrated the following recipients:

Alfred T. Samura, MD
Cooper University Health Care

Kenneth and Faatimah Gamble
Co-founders, Universal Companies

Michael Forman
Chair and CEO, FS Investments

Philadelphia Mayor James F. Kenney served as honorary chair and was joined by emcee Rick Williams from 6abc. The Gala, back in person for the first time since the pandemic, brought out community, civic, and business leaders from some of Philadelphia’s most engaged companies and organizations, including presenting sponsor Parx and platinum sponsors Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church and FS Investments.
“The record-breaking funds raised tonight will provide much-needed scholarships that so many of our students depend on to complete their education. I would like to thank our Gala committee, the College’s Board of Trustees, the Foundation Board of Directors and our generous sponsors for making this possible,” said College President Dr. Donald “Guy” Generals during the event. “By giving students the opportunity to overcome one of the greatest barriers to their success—the lack of financial resources—you are opening doors to brighter futures.”
Proceeds from the Black and Gold Gala support student scholarships, including the 50th Anniversary Promise Scholarship, which has provided more than 1,500 high school graduates across the city with the opportunity to pursue an associate degree at no cost for tuition and fees.
Thank you to the 2022 Black & Gold Gala sponsors
