2021-2022 ANNUAL REPORT

STUDENT AND ALUMNI VOICES

Breanna Pierce

“Being awarded the Joseph and Marie Field Opportunity Scholarship has been such a blessing! I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity to continue my education in a way that will be much less of a financial obstacle for me. The Field Scholarship is assisting me to reach my goal of becoming a dental hygienist before my 30th birthday, and that gives me hope and confidence in my future.”

“The scholarship didn’t just help me financially. It helped me spiritually, emotionally and mentally. It gave me that little push that I needed to keep going. Due to the pandemic, I had every reason in the world to give up. At 39, I’m a nontraditional student. I don’t have a lot of time to waste. With the help and guidance of everyone at CCP, I didn’t give up. Now I’m so close to finishing what I started nearly 20 years ago.”

Kerby Philippeaux

“I have never been so motivated to give back to the next generation, because together we can open doors of opportunity for them, just like my scholarship did for me.”

Kerby, Class of 2017

“I graduated with my associate degree in Early Childhood Education, highest honors, a 4.0 GPA and multiple job offers in my field! I am now pursuing my bachelor’s degree with a goal to make a difference in the lives of young children with special needs and their families. None of this would have been possible without your support. Thank you for giving, choosing to change lives and supporting those in pursuit their dreams!”

“The reason I chose to give back to CCP in the way of a scholarship is twofold. First, to honor the works of my mother and the many contributions she made to the field of nursing through her self-appointed role as the community advocate for education, formal, informal, incidental, trade, etc. Her enduring life purpose was to plant seeds that encouraged individuals to ‘find and feed their purpose in life.’ Second, CCP is where I began my educational journey (spawned by my mother) to find and feed my purpose in life! I am grateful for my experience at CCP, which served as foundational on my lifelong learning journey.”

Felicia Baldwin Brown-Haywood, ’75, who established the Madelyne Baldwin Memorial Scholarship for Nursing students to honor her mother’s legacy of helping others in pursuit of their education
