Letter from the Presidents

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENTS

Presidents

Dear Friends,

This past year has been like no other, with a worldwide pandemic altering the way we live, teach and learn. To say that is has been difficult for all of us is an understatement.

But through these extraordinarily challenging circumstances, our commitment to student success has never wavered. Every day, Community College of Philadelphia continues to provide access to invaluable and transformative education.

The examples of this impact are all around us—from the students transferring to four-year institutions after overcoming unimaginable obstacles, to nursing interns working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, to the more than 90 percent of graduates staying in the area and strengthening our local economy. None of this would be possible without our community of donors, and throughout this annual report, you will read more about the many ways giving is driving change and fostering student success.

Indeed, there are many accomplishments to celebrate. For fiscal year 2019–2020, the College Foundation provided nearly $3 million in scholarship and program support to the College and its students. And even though the Black and Gold Gala was canceled this year due to the pandemic, generous donors provided more than $125,000 in sponsorships and gifts for the 50th Anniversary Promise Scholarship.

As we look ahead in these uncertain times, ensuring access to education has never been more rewarding, challenging and critical. The success of our students and our community today, and in the future, depends on those who support our mission to change lives and enhance the quality of life in our city. Thank you for supporting the Community College of Philadelphia Foundation and making education for all possible.

Sincerely,
