The Covid-19 crisis generated an urgent need for individuals with contact tracing skills and experience. Contact tracing is a well-established public health method to help prevent the spread of infectious disease. You will learn about Covid-19, the contact tracing process, and the public health framework underlying the process. Students will focus on the Covid-19 pandemic, basics of epidemiology, and the process of contact tracing. Additional issues such as cultural humility, ethics, telephone communication, and HIPAA will be reviewed in relation to contract tracing, adding to your valuable transferable skillset.
This course content will be delivered in 4 live online segments through Zoom video conference and the rest of the curriculum will be delivered through self-paced asynchronous eLearning deployed via the college Learning Management System – Canvas.
High School diploma or equivalency and proficient in spoken and written English. Students must have basic technology skills and a comfort level in attaching files to email, navigating online platforms, filling out forms, etc.
Computer & Internet Access:
Students must have access to a computer with internet access. This coursework cannot be completed from a smart phone or tablet. Participants must be willing and able to access email frequently, as instructor will communicate by email.
Any student or community member interested in contact tracing training, especially those interested in entry-level employment as a contact tracer.
