Child Development Associate

Community College of Philadelphia and The Pennsylvania Child Care/Early Childhood Development Training System announce the start of our 2020 Child Development Associate workshops.

This 120-hour course is designed to enhance the quality of child care by defining, evaluating and recognizing the competence of child care providers.  A CDA is awarded by the National Council for Professional Recognition, to individuals who demonstrate a full understanding of child development and the assessment process. Participants are required to pay a registration fee only. These CDA workshops meet the level III requirements on the PA Key's Career Lattice. For more information about the PA Key's Career Lattice, go to www.PAkeys.org

We are offering three classes in the Fall 2020 semester. Dates below are for the entire 120-hour CDA program. In the Fall you will register for Part 1 (60 hours). In the Spring you will register for Part 2 (60 hours). There is no fee for Part 2. Students must be registered for and complete all 120 hours of the course to be eligible to receive the CDA.

A Child Development Associate (CDA) designation from the National Council for Professional Recognition is awarded to a person who demonstrates full understanding of child development and the assessment process.

Our CDA courses this semester are being offered as “hybrid courses” encompassing twenty online learning modules and twenty face-to-face class meetings. Students registering for hybrid courses must be computer savvy and have access to a computer with reliable internet access.

The Wednesday and Saturday CDA courses are funded by the Public Health Management Corporation through the ECE PDO @ PHMC. The Monday CDA course is funded by the Wanamaker Scholars Program.
