9:40 – 11:10 a.m. — Cyberbullying: Panel Discussion
Join representatives from organizations that are on the front lines of cyberbullying prevention for a lively discussion of methods for preventing cyberbullying. Panelists include: Randi Boyette, regional director of Education at the Anti-Defamation League; David Watters, assistant dean of students, Community College of Philadelphia; Kelly Kroehle, director, Bryson Institute of The Attic Youth.
11:20 a.m. – 12:50 p.m. — Cyberbullying and Self-esteem: Results of a Citywide Survey
In this session, Psychology students will discuss the findings of a citywide survey on cyberbullying and self-esteem.
1 – 2:20 p.m. — Cyberbullying and the Law
This session will explore the "myth" of "bullycide" while exploring current legal standards all educators, parents and anyone who cares about our children should know, including recent case outcomes involving cyberbullying. David Keller Trevaskis, a lawyer, educator and Olweus certified trainer, will show that legal remedies, however carefully crafted, do not provide the immediate protection children who are being bullied need. He will look at how schools and communities respond to bullying of all types, and he will lay out a model approach for attacking the problem of cyberbullying.
2:30 – 3:50 p.m. — Screening of the PBS Documentary “Bully”
“Bully,” offers an intimate, unflinching look at how bullying affects five school children and their families. The film captures the different ways adults respond to aggressive behaviors beyond kids will be kids clichés as part of a growing movement to change how bullying is handled in schools and communities.
