Closing Out Women's History Month with a Bang: The Influence of Social Media on Colorism
Technology and social media today make it so easy for people to connect in the modern world. While very useful, social media can also be used as a platform for people to openly and unsympathetically make hurtful, or close-minded statements without taking others feelings into consideration. In “The Influence of Social Media on Colorism,” keynote speaker Jordyn Pratt, researcher and entrepreneur, will discussion how to empower students to understand how social media has influenced aspects of colorism, identify with how they may have subconsciously fallen victim to its influence, and outline the necessary steps it takes to use social media more appropriately. The discussion will be followed by a student panel. Moderator: Debonair Oates-Primus
