What Do Forensic Psychologists Do?
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Bonnell Auditorium, Room BG-20
What do forensic psychologists do? Hint: It’s almost NEVER criminal profiling. TV shows like “Criminal Minds” and movies like “Silence of the Lambs” would have you believe that every killer is diabolically complex, requiring forensic psychologists to create “profiles” of the suspect, based on elements of the crime, in order to solve the case. In reality, very few forensic psychologists actually do criminal profiling, and those that do criminal profiling are rarely forensic psychologists. So, what, exactly, do forensic psychologists do? Join Dr. Frei and his students as they discuss all of the OTHER areas in which psychology is applied to the law and criminal justice. Presenters: Dr. Rick Frei, associate professor, Psychology and students of the Forensic Psychology class, Jefferson University
