Once again, the College has been invited to participate at the City's signature site for the 2015 MLK day of Service. Come out and join the College family at Girard College, 2101 S. College Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19121, on Monday, Jan., 19, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. - 12pm.
Each participant will receive the official MLK Day of Service t-shirt upon arrival, enjoy a free lunch and have the choice of over 100 service projects. Projects include the following which are sponsored by the College's Student Ambassador Program:
1) Visit the Civic Engagement Expo and make hats and scarves to be donated to the children of the Philadelphia Fairmount Boys and Girls Club and Youth Emergency Services.
You may also bring your donated hats, scarves and gloves to the Student Leadership and Involvement Center, Room S1-12 until Friday, Jan. 16 or bring them with you to Girard College. Plus, we are collecting non-perishables to be donated to Philabundance.
Also at the Civic Engagement Expo, there will be additional opportunities to write a “Thank You” letter to President Obama or to stop by the Veteran’s Resource Center information table.
2) Visit the Kids Carnival, with something for everyone, no matter the age. Kids can participate in the Carnival by showing their creativity with face painting and arts and crafts of all sorts. Get them engaged early!
3) Visit the Health and Wellness Fair and learn about HIV and AIDS awareness and prevention as we partner with Bebashi – Transition to Hope.
Make sure you stop by and enjoy Levi “The Traveler”- The African Drummer and Griot.
Join us and serve on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015. To register for MLK Day of Service go to: https://orgsync.com/81772/forms/125584.
