The Roaries

The 2021 Roaries

Although our College community was not able to be together this year on campus, many members of our Lion pride continued to perform extraordinary acts of service, kindness and leadership in our virtual College community and around Philadelphia. With the Roaries, we celebrate the fact that even in some of the darkest hours of this pandemic, Community College of Philadelphia students continued to spread hope, compassion and inspiration to every corner of our city.

 :

What are we celebrating and why?

The Roaries showcase and celebrate our students who, amid COVID-19, have displayed extraordinary acts of kindness.

The Roaries awards our students for simple acts of kindness, service and goodwill, capturing the spirit of community that has kept our College community, neighbors, friends and families together throughout the pandemic. With the past year of online learning, traditional on-campus service has not been possible. As such, in lieu of our annual student leadership awards and during this unprecedented time, we are honoring and celebrating all of our students who are leading, serving, volunteering and doing all acts of kindness in their communities and for those around them.

Our students were encouraged to upload a 20-second video of themselves or their peers performing or retelling an act of goodwill and/or service. Each will be awarded a Roarie, a beautifully designed digital certificate to be downloaded and framed. We knew good was being done by so many of our students and we wanted to recognize their efforts. Thank you to the many staff and faculty who took the time to leave a note on the Kudoboard.

The Student Leadership Society; Online Student Leadership Skills Certificate

The goal of Philadelphia L.E.A.D.S.
