The story of Philadelphia activists, who in 1971 broke into FBI offices in Media, PA and uncovered the FBI’s vast and illegal regime of spying and intimidation of Americans exercising their First Amendment rights. In our current age of Wikileaks & Edward Snowden, this documentary couldn’t be timelier. This event is free and open to the public.

Part of the Americans in Struggle Film Series. As the fight for higher wages and a fair minimum wage heats up, this film illuminates the challenges faced by more than 42 million low wage American women and the 28 million children who depend on them. This event is free and open to the public.

The Federation is co-sponsoring the Americans in Struggle film series in collaboration with the Philadelphia Unemployment Project and other local organizations. These films will celebrate the struggles of the American people that have made us the nation we are today.

 

Author Kevin Powers, "The Yellow Birds"

One Book, One Philadelphia Author Series presents this veteran and novelist who will read from his National Book Award-nominated novel, The Yellow Birds. Powers will speak on his personal journey as a soldier and writer, as well as his perspectives of the physical and psychological paths navigated by today’s veterans. A book-signing will follow. Located in the Winnet Great Hall.
