2015 Poets & Writers Festival: One Book, One Philadelphia author Christina Baker Kline

What Orphan Train Teaches Us about the Past and the Present: Christina Baker Kline will briefly read from her novel Orphan Train and discuss what the immigration experience of the past can teach us about the experience of immigrants today. She will present a slide show on the history of her topic and answer questions about her research and writing process. A book-signing will follow. Open to the public. Co-sponsored by the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Men's Basketball Quarterfinal Home Game

Community College of Philadelphia's Colonials men's basketball team starts its journey to win the National Junior College Athletic Associations (NJCAA) National Basketball Championship by hosting a 6 p.m. home game on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Region XIX's Division III tournament.

The Colonials, who are ranked #1 in Region XIX and #7 overall among NJCAA Division III colleges in the nation, will play at the Athletics Center. Admission to this game is free and open to the public.

Out State Representative Brian Sims is throwing his first town hall of his new term, where he will answer questions ranging from what he's done in office over the past year to the work he's got planned down the road. He's there to answer questions, too, so bring some tough ones—particularly those about how he plans pass statewide LGBT anti-discrimination laws and ones that protect the LGBT community from hate crimes.
