Community College of Philadelphia now offers year-round programming for rising 6th through 8th grade students through our Jr. STEM Academy. Schools can choose between our one-day seminars focused on STEM fields, mini workshops on national and international STEM awareness days, and our semester-long school-based programs for students in grades 6 to 12. Parents are invited to explore our Out of School Time (OST) programs, which include STEM-related afterschool programming and STEM summer camps.
Registration is open for Community College of Philadelphia’s Jr. STEM Academy Summer Camp. Students in grades 5 (must be starting 6th grade in fall 2024) through 8 are invited to join us this summer to learn about robotic engineering, coding, drones, 3D printing, audio/visual technology and transportation technology.
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Career and Advanced Technology Center, 4750 Market Street
Cost: $300 per camper

Campers will learn about:
- Robotic Engineering
Block code and JavaScript , and see how engineers design and create various projects - Coding with Arduino
Microprocessors and how to create “Smart” products that respond to human interaction - Drones
Drone piloting, line of sight and first-person view piloting, and FAA regulations - 3D Printing
Computer-assisted design (CAD) and create custom projects - Audio/Visual Technology
Recording and editing videos on phones and with cameras, and AI's role in filmmaking - Transportation Technology
Electric vehicles, cars that can drive by themselves and build an electric vehicle to race
School-based Programs
These semester-long programs conducted in schools with the support of the Jr. STEM Academy provide opportunities for students to research STEM-related topics and present their findings as part of a Engineering Design or Science Fair competition.
