Community College of Philadelphia now offers year-round programming for rising 6th through 8th grade students through our Jr. STEM Academy. Schools can choose between our one-day seminars focused on STEM fields, mini workshops on national and international STEM awareness days, and our semester-long school-based programs for students in grades 6 to 12. Parents are invited to explore our Out of School Time (OST) programs, which include STEM-related afterschool programming and STEM summer camps.
Jr. STEM Academy Summer Camps
The Jr. STEM Academy will offer three summer camps in July 2023 for students in 6th through 8th grades on July 3–26, 2023, Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost for each camp is $450 per student.
Creative Robotics
Location: Career and Advanced Technology CenterCreate and code—learn Python while designing your robot in our creative robotics camp! Using Adafruit Crikit and Circut Playground Express, campers will learn how to code while designing and building their robots, programming motors and sensors.
Drones
Location: Main CampusBuild and fly! Discover the world of drones as you learn to build and fly a commercial-grade quadcopter using line-of-sight and first-person-view (FPV).
3D Printing
Location: Career and Advanced Technology CenterSketch and create! Dive into the world of 3D printing while creating your own prototyped design. Campers will learn how to create designs using CAD software and create prototypes using Makerbot 3D printers.
College and Career Awareness Series

In this series of one-day seminars to introduce various STEM-related fields to students in 6th through 12th grades, students are able to interact with both industry professionals, and current undergraduate and graduate students while engaging in hands-on activities.
Events include:
- Minority Men in Medicine – Focusing on Increasing minority males in medicine
- DiversITy – Focuses on increasing minorities and women in IT
- Introduce a Girl to Engineering (part of the Girls in Engineering Design Challenge)
- Team Health Care – Partnership program with the Division of Math, Science and Health Careers. An introduction to health care careers outside of M.D. programs
Students are registered by school officials. These are free programs.

STEM Exposure Days

Our STEM exposure days are one day mini-workshops in celebration of various STEM-related national and international awareness days. Students engage in hands-on activities and mini-challenges.
Events include:
- International CS Week
- National Manufacturing Day
- Earth Day – Partnership event with the Division of Business and Technology
Students are registered by school officials. These are free programs.
