PennDOT - Safety Inspection Mechanic Training
This Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Safety Inspection Mechanic training course instructs participants to inspect motor vehicles under the Vehicle Equipment and Inspection Regulations. Both written and hands-on tactile examinations must be passed for successful completion of the course. All materials are provided. Bring photo ID/driver's license to class.
Safety Inspection Cat III licenses (Buses/Trucks) will only be available during the months of April thru September.
Note: The 60-minute tactile exam is scheduled additionally at a designated time and date after the last class date. If registering online, download a copy of the training manual and review before the start of class.
Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course candidates will be certified for the Pennsylvania state inspection license and have a proficient understanding of the following policies and procedures:
- Inspection station obligations and responsibilities.
- Operations of tools and equipment
- Recording inspection information
- Ordering of certificates
- Violations and suspensions
