Chosen Name Change Policy
You can change your first name yourself in most College systems by filling out one form! It may take up to a week for every system to update completely, but most should be updated within 24 hours. You can also get a new student ID with your correct name!
Just follow these steps:
- First, go to https://myccp.online and log-in to your account.
- In the menu at the top of the page, click the Student tab.
- Once on the student tab, go the the left side column and select “Enrollment Services”
- Under Enrollment Services, select “Update Contact Information” which will open a new tab or browser window.
- In the new tab, find the section labeled “CHOSEN/PREFERRED FIRST NAME” (not in the instructions at the top, it’s a little further down the page).
- Type in the name you want displayed in Canvas, and make sure it’s only your first name, do not include your last name or it will appear twice everywhere.
- Double check that there are no typos, and click “Update Preferred Name”
- Wait 24 hours to give time for our servers to update your name in Banner.
Then you’re done, please wait at least one business day before requesting a new student ID! If your canvas or email name is not updating within one week, please email 4ITSupport [at] ccp.edu (4ITSupport[at]ccp[dot]edu) for additional support!
