Nurse Aide Training

Begin your career in health care by registering for the Nurse Aide Training program. Classroom lecture, lab skills and clinical practicum will prepare you for employment in long-term care facilities, hospitals and nursing homes. Training topics include the role and function of a nurse aide, resident rights, nutrition, abuse and neglect prevention, infection control, psychosocial needs, safety and accident prevention, personal care skills, communication skills, and legal and ethical aspects of long-term care.

Participants will be prepared to sit for the Pennsylvania State Nurse Aide Competency and Training Examination upon completion of the training. Students must register through Pearson Vue for the state competency and skills exam. This noncredit certificate program provides academic credits that can be used towards specific credit-bearing degree program upon completion and enrollment in the credit degree program. Students are eligible for 3 college credits upon completion of this program and passing the corresponding certification exams. For more details, please view our Prior Learning Assessment.

Note: The registration deadline is two weeks prior to the start of this class. Prospective participants must hold a high school diploma or GED. Participants must pass a general physical examination plus a two-step test for tuberculosis, upload COVID-19 vaccination card, and must undergo a criminal background check. Documentation of these requirements must be submitted two weeks prior to the start of class.  Download the physical screening form  and complete a criminal background check. Students are also required to complete a Pennsylvania Residency verification form
