Carefully Review the Application Form
Completing our scholarship application will allow you to be considered for over 100 scholarships. Please review the instructions carefully for each section to ensure that you are fulfilling all necessary requirements.
Browse our scholarship offerings
The College awards scholarships to students depending on their financial need, area of study, extracurricular activities, etc. Visit https://ccp.academicworks.com to see which scholarships you qualify for, then click on those scholarships of interest to view requirements for submission. Some scholarships may require additional action or information to be submitted with your application. You will not be considered for a scholarship if you do not submit all of the required information.
These are internal scholarships intended to provide funding from the College for our community. For national scholarships, please refer to our guide on National Scholarships.
Gather your Materials
Transcript
Current and prospective CCP students must upload an UNOFFICIAL transcript. Instructions for downloading your CCP transcripts are included above the transcript section of the application.
FAFSA Information
Although not every scholarship requires the completion of the FAFSA form, many of them do. If the scholarships you plan to apply for do not require a FAFSA application, we strongly encourage you to submit one so that you be considered for the full extent of our financial aid and scholarship offerings, as well as opportunities for national and federally funded scholarships. If you are a dependent or otherwise reliant on another person's information to complete your FAFSA, make sure that you request that information well in advance of your deadline.
Letters of Recommendation
Please review the Recommendations section of the General Application for details.
Essay
The General Scholarship Essay is required to submit the General Application. Please review the topics under the REQUIRED ESSAY section of the application.
Mark your Calendar
The General Scholarship application opens each year in early July and closes on June 30 of the following year. A new General Scholarship application is required each year. Submit your application as quickly as possible so you don’t miss an opportunity to be considered for the maximum number of scholarships that are awarded throughout the year.
Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to gather your recommendations, plan and edit your essay and have all of your financial aid information in order. You will be able to do your best work if you plan ahead, and your work will be at its best if it is free of spelling and grammatical errors.
Tips
Ask for help
There are many resources you can use to make sure your scholarship application reflects your best work:
- Our Scholarships Office offers workshops throughout the year. Keep an eye on your @ccp.edu inbox as well as our events calendar for more information.
- Ask a trusted friend, family member, mentor or teacher to proofread your essay or application, or find a friend or classmate that’s working on their own scholarship application and take turns bouncing ideas off each other.
- Current students can make an appointment with a tutor at the Learning Lab for help with proofreading or writing your essay.
- If you get stuck and can’t find answers, check out our Scholarship FAQs or contact scholarships [at] ccp.edu or 215.496.6182.
Do some research.
Are you unsure about how to write an essay to make it understandable to the reader, or how to tell a compelling story? There are a lot of resources online that can help explain the process of writing for scholarship applications. Here is a good article from Scholly to get you started.
Save your work.
Carefully draft your essay in a Word document. Then, copy and paste your essay in the application. Save your application at any time and return later to continue.
Sing your own praises.
Don’t be shy! This is your time to brag about your accomplishments and share what makes you unique. What are you passionate about? What hardships have you overcome? Let your voice shine through. You should be proud of who you are, where you’ve been and where you are going.
Don’t give up.
If you are not awarded any scholarships the first time you apply, try again next year! You can use your first submission as a rough draft and continue to improve your work. It is common for students to be awarded a scholarship their second or third time applying, especially if they have shown improvement in their academic performance.
Don’t ignore small awards.
Smaller awards can add up, and usually have fewer applicants. If you qualify for one or more of our smaller scholarship offerings, make sure you review all requirements and include the necessary elements in your application.
