Learn and Earn Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship Program

Take the Next Step in Your Early Childhood Education Career

The Learn and Earn Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship program at Community College of Philadelphia was created to reduce barriers to accessing education for new and incumbent workers in the Early Childhood Education field. The program was designed as an earn-and-learn model that is accommodating to full-time workers furthering their education.

The ECE Apprenticeship Pathway is a supportive associate degree-granting program with articulated options to continue on to a bachelor’s degree. The College’s ECE Apprenticeship Pathway honors prior learning and work experience of students by granting 9 credits for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and 9 credits for a defined set of on-the-job learning competencies.

The course schedule is flexible, with some courses offered asynchronously online, some offered synchronously online, and some courses delivered in a hybrid (online and in-person) model.

Students in the Learn and Earn ECE Apprenticeship program will be partnered with mentors at their worksites supported by our partner, First Up. The program is supportive and holistic, training Early Childhood Education teachers and directors for the next steps in their careers.
